Chapter 1- Pre-History

Pre-history denotes the time period when the art and artifacts records are not available in record forms. No proper written evidences are available.

Chapter-5 Satvahana and Sangam - South India in Ancient times

The Satavahanas, were an Indian dynasty based in the Deccan region. The beginning of the Satavahana rule is dated variously from 271 BCE to 30 BCE. Satavahanas dominated the Deccan region from the 1st century BCE to the 3rd century CE.The Sangam period is the period in the history of ancient southern India (known as the Tamilakam) spanning from c. 300 BCE to 300 CE. 

Chapter-6 The age of Gupta Empire

The Gupta Empire was an ancient Indian empire, founded by Sri Gupta, which existed at its zenith from approximately 320 to 550 CE and covered much of the Indian subcontinent. The peace and prosperity created under the leadership of the Guptas enabled the pursuit of scientific and artistic endeavours. This period is called the Golden Age of India and was marked by extensive inventions and discoveries in science,technology, engineering, art, dialectic, literature, logic,mathematics, religion,and philosophy that crystallized the elements of what is generally known as Hindu culture. 

Chapter-7 Harshwardhan and his time

This chapter deals with important concept of India during 7th century. The art and architecture of 7th century India was reflected in Ellora caves. The culture of Deccan and the temple architecture has been dealt in analytical manner in this chapter. Besides. India's relation with foreign countries in the 7 th Century is an important aspect related to Civil services Examination.
